Cindy Crawford Snapped Wearing Rockins Classic Skinny Fringe Scarf
Cindy Crawford had recently attended the heart foundation event at Ron Burkle’s Green Acre Estate wearing a Rockins Classic Skinny Fringed Scarf! Crawford has been an internationally recognised model for over 30 years and is known as one of the first ‘supermodels’; a term that came to embody the new breed of glamorous, Amazonian models that infiltrated fashion and culture in the early 1990s.
Crawford shot to fame after appearing on the cover of British Vogue, shot by Peter Lindbergh in January 1990. Against a faded Manhattan backdrop, Crawford smouldered into the camera alongside Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Tatjana Patitz.
Last month, we saw Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, model icons for the Instagram generation wearing our Rockins scarves. But it seems that it’s not just the bright young things who have taken a shine to our handcrafted silk scarves, as original supermodel Cindy Crawford stepped out in our very own Rockins Classic Skinny Fringe Scarf in black.
The title asked; The 1990s, What Next?”. The answer was right before the readers’ eyes; these five supermodels were set to take the world by storm.
The 1990s saw a demand for recognizable figures who could sell a product on the strength of their beauty. What followed was an era that changed the fashion industry forever; never before had models earned as much as Hollywood’s biggest screen stars, and had the power to dictate the photographers, hairdressers and make up artists they worked with. This irresistible group of women (which included Helena Christensen, Kate Moss and Elle Macpherson) came to represent strength and independence in an industry that previously saw models as transient, fleeting and nameless. From her Academy Awards Versace dress in 1991 to the trademark mole above her lip, Cindy Crawford is the epitome of Nineties glamour and remains one of the world’s most successful models in fashion history.
A collage of our favourite things, the Rockins Classic Skinny Fringed Scarf in black features motifs from guitar plectrums and charms to amulets and palm trees. Crafted in 100% Crepe de chine silk with our hallmark bias cut and hand-finished mitred point, our initial inspiration was taken from traditional 1920s scarf designs. This original design has remained our staple scarf, capturing the eclectic, rock and roll aesthetic of the brand.
